On May 30, 1920, the Cagliari Football Club was born. The company, founded by surgeon Gaetano Fichera, is the most important team in Sardinia and the only one to have played in Serie A.

What happened?

The first game in the history of the Cagliari team is dated September 8, 1920, when on the field of the Stallaggio Meloni stadium the Cagliari team faced and defeated Torres.

The game ended with a score of 5-2: for Cagliari Alberto Figari, known as “Cocchino”, distinguished himself with a hat-trick.

Why is it important for Cagliari?

In 1926 Cagliari wore the red and blue colors for the first time. Then the war break and the arrival of Gigi Riva.

What happened next?

Until the 1964-1965 season, when Cagliari played its first Serie A championship. In the 1969-1970 season, Cagliari, under the guidance of Manlio Scopigno, won its first and only national title.
